Valentine’s Day is loved and hated equally. For those of the latter sentiment, it is either a cheap reminder that you are alone, or a nuisance that requires considerable planning. Those who love this holiday, take pleasure in creating a saccharine experience for their loved one. Growing up, my Mom would bring, without fail, breakfast to me on a tray with a small rose plant and Valentine. Her ability to make Valentine’s Day special for me, year after year, convinced me that this day is an opportunity to show anyone and everyone you love that you care. I decided to embrace, rather than damn Valentine’s Day this year, by crafting handmade cards for my best friends. After spending way to much at Michael’s (as usual), I set up my work space with all the necessities – Earl Grey, Toblerone and Downton Abbey included – and started stenciling, stamping, sponging, spraying and glittering my cards.
Wishing everyone a creative and love-filled Valentine’s Day!
